I remember going to sleep last night on my stomach. That does not explain how I woke up this morning on my side, curled up around my cat.

Levelled up twice in P3P! Still not in Monad. Still have not beaten it. Stupid Theo and his stupidly wide range of floors to look for the stupid missing persons... /complain

I remember yesterday wanting to write something about first lines. I remember, way back in ninth grade, my English teacher said something about how the first line of a book defines the rest of it, or something like that. (She made a big deal about it. If her example hadn't been Jane Eyre then maybe I would have been more interested at the time... but it was, so I wasn't. I am now, though! Just not in Jane Eyre.) Back then I disagreed, but now I don't. The first line is, after all, the hook - it's the first thing that the reader sees, it's what pulls them in... or, at least, it does if it's interesting. If it isn't, then it... doesn't. As far as first lines go, I definitely have a soft spot for "There's something strange about the way one year ends and another begins." It's very introspective, which was, I guess, kind of the whole idea.

Of course, then you have something like "Saika Arisato knows exactly when she's going to die." It's really the best possible way I could have started that fic. I mean, it sets the tone for the entire thing, and, if you're familiar with the source material, I like to think that just that one line, that opening line, is enough to let you know that it's an AU. (And if you're not, it's a delicious teaser.)

It's really cold and I don't particularly want to get up. Plus I think allergy season might be early this year |:
