Wednesday, 27 October 2010 05:44 amAlmost finished! Just need to shove wire through the bits that need wire and then sew everything on.
Also, a couple things I noticed yesterday that really bothered me. The pettier one first: if you jump out at someone, or suddenly grab their shoulders from behind, or call out to them when they aren't expecting it, you haven't scared that person; you have startled that person. Being scared implies fear, and fear is not that involuntary little jump you do when something unexpected happens. Fear is something deeper, something way worse than that little jump. So when people startle somebody, and then are all, "Did I scare you?" I get really annoyed.
The other thing that really bothered me is this: upon learning that someone got a bad grade on a test, the proper thing to do is not to tell them, "There goes your A." That is a dick move and is under no circumstances okay to do. Saying, "At least she had an A," does not make it okay. Saying, "That guy always says stuff like that, it's just how he is," does not make it okay. Saying, "She'll probably act like it never even happened tomorrow," does not make it okay. There is, in fact, nothing that can be said that could make it okay, although apologising for being a total asshole would be a good idea. That's not going to happen, because the guy in question sees absolutely nothing wrong with what he said ("It was just a joke!") and is, in fact, a total asshole, but it would be nice if it did happen.
Anyway, off to go play with wire. It's only slightly safer than playing with needles!
