On Wednesday I was eating lunch with some of Hanekoma's friends. One of them looked vaguely familiar! (Actually two of them looked vaguely familiar, but as it turns out I don't think I've ever actually met her before.) She asked me what elementary school I went to and then told me her name. And I was like "I... vaguely remember knowing a person by that name! But I don't know if you're her."

This morning I find out she friended me on Facebook. She's the same person. I can't decide if that's cool or incredibly awkward.

Anyway, short day today, then I get to go to the doctor's to... Idk, prove that I actually still need the meds I'm on or something, since they won't renew my prescription until they see me, and then I get to go talk to the principal of my old elementary school, to ask her to fill out and submit a form for the Gold Award that I was fairly certain we still needed but that everybody was all "Oh no, it's totally fine, we don't need to worry" only to find out that actually yeah we do need to worry.

And then I can come home and sleep or play Mass Effect or whatever. I get weekend this week, and probably also next week, because "the board" has to approve our project before we can start working. So there's that.

So earlier I started writing a post and then scrapped it, because I couldn't really remember what I wanted to write about. Then I remembered! That was five minutes ago, though, so I can't say exactly how similar this will be to what I actually meant it to be.

As it turns out, I actually did do some of the stuff on my to-do list: I had to ask Kay if she still had emails for the Gold Award (she didn't), I had to transcribe "stuff" (I did it), and I had to add quotes to my essay (I don't have the exact quotes but I know what they're about and where-ish they are). Of course, I haven't edited the essay, done my media log or any of my other homework, or worked on the map activities for the Gold Award, so... yeah.

I'm going to be so happy when this essay is done, you don't even know.

Of course, after that I get to work on earning scientology money, but at least that's doing stuff I actually like to do. (Sorry, Scientology money, Firefox insists it isn't spelled right if it isn't capitalised.) I actually wrote out some ideas yesterday, but I didn't have my sketchbook so I couldn't really thumbnail or sketch character concepts (I tried anyway, but it didn't really work) and then today I was going through my WIP file and found a different story that would work equally well if I finished it and polished it up a bit. Writing and drawing sci-fi/fantasy stuff for the win~! (I actually have a playlist that I think I'm going to end up listening to through all the work on this particular set of scholarships, because it fits the concepts oddly well... but I made the playlist like a month ago. I guess that means I like angsty concepts! I don't want to know what that says about me.)

If I ever have any free time ever again, anyway. The deadline for this quarter is the end of the month. Guess what else I have to do by the end of the month? Find my volunteer hours log Finish the Gold Award! :D (That smiley is sarcastic. I feel this needs to be pointed out.) So there's that.

Also, I found the library and the cafeteria. Additionally, yesterday morning I lost one of my favourite pens. This afternoon I found it... smashed to bits in the street. /: That was my favourite blue pen, too. (Actually I think it was my only blue pen... but I still really liked it.) I bought it and several of its friends five years ago. I have never seen them sold anywhere ever since. I now only have one of them, out of eight. That makes me very sad. ):

Finally, statistics class is a lot more fun with the Mass Effect soundtrack applied to it. :3

I think I figured out why I can't connect to my school's wireless network - because the security certificate is out of date. (It also appears that my operating system isn't supported either; how weird is that?) Awesome! All I can say is, I'm so grateful for unsecured wireless networks; if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have any internet access right now.

And that would be terrible.

So I actually have this whole long to-do list, buuuut I am probably not likely to do any of it. At least not right now. (Maybe some of it, like the essay thing. I wrote 1000 words of Atlas blaaaaaargh yesterday, but it needs heavy editing and things like, uh, quotes for evidence. Still, I wrote like the whole thing in half an hour, surely that deserves some kind of praise, right?) And there's Gold Award stuff I'm supposed to be doing - but I'm rather annoyed by it at the moment, so I'll do it later. (Procrastination, yeah!)

I'm thinking of dying part of my hair green. Like, my fringe, or a streak or two, or something. It's weird, sure, but I still kind of want to.

Anyway, off to do unproductive things. That's what I do best!

I want more Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake. It will never not be awesome. To this end I looked up some fic! Basically all the fic on ff.net is Marshal LeexFionna shipfic, which is immensely ironic considering Fionna's declaration at the end of the episode (well, right before the end, anyway). So it's really weird, right after watching that, to see tons of fic where Fionna laments her lack of boyfriend.

(Also, if I hadn't read that Fionna was based on Sailor Moon I would have figured it out after seeing her dress, because it is literally identical to Princess Serenity's. ...I think I'm going to go look for crossovers now.)

Atlas Shrugged essay still in the works; I was going to start it yesterday today but got distracted, plus I just remembered the reading I have to do before class tomorrow! So there's that, too.

I just painted my nails; they are now purple. My toenails, too. I think this is the first time I've ever painted my toenails.

As it turns out, my Garrus shirt actually did come in the mail before I left for the cinema, so I got to wear it out. Hanekoma hasn't played ME2 yet, so the effect was rather lost on him, but, you know, cool shirt, so I didn't really mind.

Also, those $14 tickets were totally worth it if only for the chairs. I went to sit down in my seat and simultaneously fell back and sank into it, the chairs were that cushy.

The film was good, too.

I've only just finally gotten around to drawing the thing I told Pinky I'd do, mainly because I know I'll be seeing her later this week. I feel kind of bad that it's taken me this long. Anyway, I finished the first sketch, so now I need to clean it up a bit and ink it. This is made considerably more difficult with the addition of an attention-greedy cat who won't leave me alone. /: So I figure I'll probably clean it up later tonight, and ink it tomorrow, then scan it and the one I did for Shiki. I want to colour them, but I don't want to mess up the actual drawings, since I'm actually kind of proud of them (well, of Shiki's. I'm not sure about Pinky's yet).

I've actually started drawing things rather a bit differently than I used to, and I think I like the effect. First I do the actual sketch in an H pencil, which is a harder lead than HB and therefore lighter. Then I go over the lines I intend to keep with an HB pencil (I could use a B pencil, but HB is dark enough for my purposes, especially if I'm going to be inking). Then I ink as usual, but then... I add line weight! This is something I've learned to do only recently and I really kind of like it.

Also, I've found that there are two things that I hate drawing, and those things are feet and Axel's hair. Naturally my drawing for Pinky's involves both (actually it only involves one, because after ten minutes of trying to make his feet look like actual feet I said screw it and drew him in slippers instead of gladiator sandals). Pokémon are kind of annoying to draw as well, but it only took me a couple of tries to draw a Growlithe that actually looked like a Growlithe, so that wasn't quite as bad.

Things I Have Done Today:
 - dyed my hair
 - made brownies

I now officially deem today "productive."

I also learned things! Things related to things I have done, fittingly enough. I learned that if you think you've used a lot of hair dye, you haven't used enough; and I learned that when there's a packet of fudge in the box of brownie mix, you should probably read the directions to see if you're supposed to mix it into the batter. Fortunately I was able to fix one of these things before it was too late, so while my hair is slightly less red at the ends than it is at the roots, my brownies will be very fudgey.

I found my car keys, as well; my brother has had them, because he was teaching me to drive my car; however, he seems to have decided that I shouldn't be driving it (either that or he doesn't want to teach me), and so not only did I not know where my keys were, my car was stuck in back yard hell. It still is, but at least now I know where my keys are. I figure I'll ask him to move it into the driveway later, and very definitely not mention that mum will be driving it so she can get a feel for it, so that she can then teach me to drive it (because he certainly isn't).

Also, I did not actually play Lair of the Shadow Broker yesterday, as I forgot that there were three and a half hours of season premières that I wanted to watch. They were very good, but they made me want to play ME2. /shrug

Today I read a ridiculous amount of Harry Potter fanfiction. I also got my eyes examined, ordered new glasses, and cooked dinner. All in all, I'd say it was a vaguely productive day.

I am supposed to wear reading glasses, although I haven't been for over a year. This is because my old glasses went rogue last May, and I haven't seen them since. Now, I got through the end of junior year and all of senior year without them, first because the insurance wouldn't cover a whole new set of glasses until the start of this year, and after that because my mum was a bit busy trying to put in as much work as possible at her job so that she could stay employed. Let me tell you, being farsighted and spending most of your time either reading or on the internet is not fun. (I can see just fine at any distance, but it's harder for my eyes to focus on things that are up close, like a book or a computer screen, so I get tired a lot and get crazy headaches when I don't wear glasses. Which is funny, because people always say that television and video games will make you dumb and also nearsighted. I guess I'm just contrary.)

Um, but anyway! Then I went grocery shopping, ended up buying a ton of chicken (individually wrapped breasts, in fact), and when I got home lathered two of them in bbq sauce and baked them. They were good. The bacon mac and cheese I made (from a pouch, last time I do that) was not so good, but I've had worse. In all, it was a meal rather reminiscent of prom (at which there was tri-tip, garlic mashed potatoes, bbq chicken, and mac and cheese with bits of ham mixed in).

Plus, you know, the chicken was good. One more thing I can cook! :D

I still want to go see the new Transformers film, and as I actually have money to spare now, I shall probably see if anyone would like to go do that. (Perhaps they would not, though, as I've asked people out to do things almost every week of summer so far. Still, I can always ask.) And in the meantime, I've got me some Lair of the Shadow Broker to play. ♥
