Saturday, 25 June 2011 03:35 pmGrad party to go to! It started at two, but I spent about two hours deliberating whether or not I should actually go, because I think the main event involved is a pool and I don't have any swim gear that a) fits without b) making me look like a fat cow. And since there are people I'd actually like to respect me attending this grad party, I'd really rather not look like a fat cow. The usual "Why don't you just go!" tirades from my mum occurred, although my decision to go to the party and just skip the pool was largely unrelated to her efforts (through a combination of a) me being super short and also not knowing how to swim, b) these people liking their big pools and c) me not being able to use my usual excuses to skip out because I just talked with the hosts about the excuses we use when we don't want to go to something but don't want to tell the hosts that we just don't want to go, so they'd suspect I was lying if I used any of them).
Of course, now that I've finally decided that I'm going and have gotten all ready and stuff, mum's busy doing things including a) sorting through all her old bills and new bills and random bits of paper that have been sitting in her purse (that she borrowed from me years ago and that I don't plan on ever being able to use myself again) for about as long as she's been using it and b) talking to my dad on the phone, although dad knows I've got places to be and people to see because mum was complaining to him about how I wouldn't go to the party (not true) that I'd "been looking forward to all week!" (also not true) for "stupid reasons!" (mostly not true) at about the time that I walked into the living room to tell her that I was totes ready, can we go now? and so she shoved the phone at me so that dad could talk me into going, except I'd already decided that I'd go and so told him as much. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman! ...or would that be a freight-train sentence? I'm not quite sure.)
I'm vaguely considering bringing my DS, so that I can play DQIX if everybody else is doing other things, but I don't want hosts' mum to think I'm rude or anything (because I totes care what she thinks about me!) and anyway, then I'd have to bring a bag to carry it around in. /: Maybe I won't. (But, if I do, then I can make Shiki totes jealous that she couldn't buy a copy before and make her totes want to find one now!)
